Account Manager

The Account Manager is a key member of the team working on and managing a portfolio of clients.

The AM will make a strong contribution to key business objectives through campaigns and support the Account Director with the management of clients. 

Proficient in PR skills, the Account Manager will line manage junior team members and graduates and oversee and monitor their workload. 

The Account Manager plays a key role in winning new business and will have an understanding of the budget implications of their actions.

Key Responsibilities 

Plan and implement impactful PR campaigns 

Develop and lead PR strategies from formulation through to execution aligning them with the clients key business objectives 

Combine creativity with knowledge of the media to recognise media angles and generate positive 

news coverage, profile pieces and features across a broad media spectrum 

Write journalist quality press releases and set a best practice standard of writing for junior members of the team 

Assist in the reporting, analysis and evaluation of PR campaigns 

Liaise with the client and act as key point of contact in support of senior consultants 

Sell ideas, promotions and features to clients and media 

Delegate to junior team effectively 

Supervise AEs and graduate activity and workload 

Fully participate in brainstorms and create workable programmes for new business and existing clients 

Keep track of impending deadlines and ensure all work is completed in a timely manner 

Actively participate in new business development including proposal writing 

Identify new business opportunities 

Maintain agreed client activity and budgets and alert the Account Director to any budget overspend/underspend 

Ensure all work is completed on time and within budget 

Report on client spend to Business Development manager for monthly invoicing 

Crisis PR management 

Leading client meetings 

Liaising with external suppliers 

Maintaining accurate records and files of all activities including timesheets and status reports 

Devising and implementing social media and digital strategy 

Attending relevant training sessions and industry events 

Take an interest in current affairs and keep abreast of relevant news/issues, presenting  opportunities to clients

We are looking for an accomplished, highly organised and enthusiastic Account Executive with excellent copywriting skills, strong communication skills and an advance level of social media ‘know-how’. Successful applicants will be confident in maintaining relationship with both key media and clients.

They will demonstrate drive and enthusiasm, and will have an evident passion for the world of PR. They will be an ultimate team player, and support their account team in delivering strategies to ensure maximum reach, audience engagement and client satisfaction.

We’re looking for somebody with

12 months agency experience

Good knowledge of the care and education industry

An excellent understanding of the media with proven contacts across consumer and trade press

Strong copywriting skills across a range of mediums

Good knowledge of social media

Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail

A confident, friendly approach


Key responsibilities

To maintain strong media, client and partnership relations

Writing press releases, features, newsletter, web copy, reports etc.

Provide essential support to the account team to develop and implement PR strategies and campaigns

Hold a range of responsibilities across client accounts

Maintaining a range of reporting documentation, including status reports and press cuttings portfolio

Manage a range of social media accounts, including content and analytics

To keep up to date with industry best practice, attend relevant training/seminars and contribute new ways of working for the benefit of both the agency and clients

To work with the account team to ensure deadlines/targets are met
