Busy Bees will be launching its second nurturing programme, the ‘Nurturing Problem Solving to Mathematics Programme’, to aid and refresh young children to problem solve every day challenges within play and bring traditional games that build on how maths is taught to children in early years education. The latest childcare enhancement was inspired by recent research which revealed that almost a quarter (24.2%) of children in England failed to achieve at least the expected level in mathematics at the end of the early years foundation stage between 2014 and 2015.
The UK’s leading quality childcare provider, Busy Bees, will be implementing its new programme to improve on the mathematics learning outcomes for early years children in their care. Due to the way maths has been taught in some schools over the years, many adults perceive mathematics as boring and difficult, and consider it as a negative experience. This is often because maths is often taught as a fact finding mission rather than a storytelling narrative. Play, on the other hand, is something we all loved or still love embracing. Combining play and mathematics is a positive and effective way to foster mathematical learning and helps children (and teachers!) develop a confident approach to Mathematics.
